SOAK UP THE LAST OF SUMMER ALONG THE SOUND
Travel Tips for Puget Sound Visitors | Early Fall 2015
As summer makes its last stand, communities Bainbridge Island and Gig Harbor to Seattle and Tacoma promise plenty of ways to enjoy what’s left of the most beautiful weather of the year. Special events, community festivals, and family-friendly activities – it’s the perfect time to visit the Puget Sound.
It’s not too late for a little whale watching. Oak Harbor residents enjoy especially easy access to Port Townsend, where they can embark on the Port Townsend-San Juan Island Whale Watching Tour aboard the Puget Sound Express, now through September 26th.

September 26th also brings the 2015 Washington Cheese Festival to the Seattle Design Center. Join Seattle residents as they sample and savor artisan cheeses from the region's best cheese makers, with plenty of craft beers and wines on hand as well. The cheese is cut and the pours start at 1 p.m.
Music lovers make their way to Seattle’s Capitol Hill District for the 2015 Decibel Festival, September 23rd through 27th. It’s five days of performances by more than 75 artists, along with workshops and other festive fun.
Everyone knows craft beer culture is burgeoning in the Pacific North West, and this season is a great time for visitors to savor some suds along the Sound. The 2015 Beer Tasting at the Zoo is October 1st. Head over to Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, where roughly 30 breweries will be showcasing their handcrafted creations amid the park’s exotic animals, with music, food, and more. It all starts at 5:30 p.m.
The 2015 South Sound Craft Beer Festival boasts an even bigger bevy of beverages on October 17th. Sample more than 50 tasty selections from 24 breweries at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall & Plaza, where there will also be food and live music. The fun goes from noon to 6 p.m.
