Most Popular Area Attractions

Iron Horse State Park

Comprised of over 1,600 acres, Iron Horse State Park is set near Cle Elum in the beautiful Seattle area. Bring along your hiking shoes to trek along one of the park's 110 miles of trails.

Mountain bikers and horseback riders also love to get out on the trails – as this "rail trail" park was once a railway easement and converted into multi-use paths. The wooded paths meander along the lakes and waterfalls and through the old Snoqualmie Tunnel.

Lake Easton State Park

Make the most of your next visit to the Washington Cascades and check out Lake Easton State Park. With 516 sprawling acres at the foothills of the Cascade Mountain, Lake Easton State Park is open year round and features nearly 24,000 feet shoreline at the actual Lake Easton. It's fed by the Kachess River.

From nearby Cle Elum and Ellensburg, take I-90 less than 15 miles to find Lake Easton State Park. If you visit during the winter, be sure to check out Hyak Sno Park, one of the top skiing destinations in the state, and a highlight at Lake Easton.

You'll find six miles of cycling trails at Lake Easton State Park, and six and a half miles of hiking trails. There's a boat ramp, and for those who like to toss, there are two horseshoe pits.

Roslyn, Washington

Picture it, Cicely, 1990. A large moose strolls into downtown Cicely, Alaska during the intro to television series “Northern Exposure.”

Except that’s not Alaska; it’s the Washington Cascades region in the city of Roslyn – just a few miles northwest of Cle Elum.

Found by Interstate 90, the Roslyn Historical Museum Society features exhibits on this historic coal-mining town, and memorabilia from the 1990s filming days of “Northern Exposure.”

Founded in 1961, the Roslyn Museum is open for limited hours, only charging $1 per admitted visitor.

Wenatchee National Forest

Washington Attractions

Wenatchee National Forest

Comprised of more than four million acres, the Wenatchee National Forest is an expansive wilderness in the Washington Cascades.

The forest spans from Goat Rocks Wilderness to the southern Canadian border, covering 180 miles. The diversity of the forest ranges from high alpine peaks at 9,000 feet, to deep valleys at 1,000 feet.

Recreational enthusiasts find many ways to enjoy the forest. Lace up your hiking boots to trek along the trails, saddle up a horse, or grab your rock climbing gear to scale a rock face.

Mountain biking, hunting, and fishing in Fish Lake and Lake Wenatchee are also favorite activities. Have fun exploring the forest on a guided snowshoe walk and learn more about the ecology of the area.
