SUMMER & FALL IN EASTERN WASHINGTON
Travel Tips for Eastern Washington Visitors | Summer/Fall 2016
The travel landscape across eastern Washington will be booming as late summer moves into autumn. You’ll find an exciting batch of events, festivals, concerts, and more from Walla Walla to Liberty Lake, all of which are sure to help make your next visit more than memorable.
You’ll find plenty to see and do in Spokane. Along with top attractions like Spokane Arena, and the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture, Spokane will be hosting some excellent events this time of year. The Spokane County Interstate Fair lasts from September 10th through 18th. It’s hosted at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center, and is ideal for traveling families.
Visit Riverfront Park in Spokane
From September 9th through October 9th, the Spokane Civic Center will host live productions of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast. This classic tale will have showings Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
This fall, Spokane’s Riverfront Park will be awash with a dazzling display of lights. From September 16th to October 30th, you can check out the 2016 Washington State Chinese Lantern Festival. You’ll see impressive handcrafted displays, performances, and true culinary delights.
South of Colfax you’ll find the city of Pullman, which, during the fall, is college football crazy. Plan your visit for November 25th and see the biggest in-state college football rivalry – the Washington State Cougars take on the Washington Huskies in a fierce Pac-12 match up. You can make the short drive in from nearby Clarkston and head for Martin Stadium for the 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
Plan your visit to Moses Lake for September 17th, and be sure to pack your running shoes. You’ll want to take part in the 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Columbia Basin. Head for Yonezawa Park at 8:30 a.m. for the registration. The route for this walk is three miles long.
Be sure you explore the Tri-Cities area of eastern Washington this fall. The cities of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco offer plenty to do for visitors, and one of the area’s premier annual events is just around the corner. Ye Merrie Greenwood Faire is Kennewick’s annual Renaissance festival, and this year it takes place over the weekend of September 24th at Columbia Park.
